A guesthouse and peaceful sanctuary on the Big Island of Hawaii
Reviews from guests who have stayed at our home over the years.
We had such a great time at Antoinette's place. We could not have dreamed of a better stay. The house is charming (beautiful sunset, sun room...). The room was just perfect, the private restroom is a plus ! We really enjoyed the outside shower ;-) So exotic ! The dogs are really friendly. You must definitely go to Jon and Antoinette's bakery : the cookies are especially good ! Such a good place to have your breakfast... If you want to bring sth from Hawaii, no need to go shopping ;-) : we brought back a mug made by Luna (Antoinette's daughter)... perfect. We spend one night in another place to see the volcano and we were so glad to be back... You won't believe it, you will feel like home. Highly recommended !!! Laure B ~ San Francisco, CA

We stayed in the 2 bedroom part of the guest house with our 3 year old and 7 month old baby and we loved it. The two rooms open onto a lovely mostly screened outdoor sitting area with a beautiful ocean view - we enjoyed watching the sunset from our outdoor sitting area surrounding by the lush garden. The location is fantastic and convenient for both Kona and the area around Captain Cook which was were a lot of our favourite spots were. John and Antoinette and their daughter were very welcoming and accommodating and were great hosts - the bagels and banana bread were delicious! Our son loved reading all the kids books in the bookshelves and feeding the dogs treats. Our sink and shower were located outside, but once we got used to the idea we really liked the outdoor shower! We thought that this place was great value, nice and clean and in a great spot. Thanks we will be back next time we are in the area! Lucie ~ Canada
We had a wonderful stay with Antoinette. The studio is lovely, clean and well furnished. The view from the lanai is outstanding! The sunset over the ocean was just gorgeous. The location is private and secluded and yet only a 10-15 minute drive into town. The complimentary bagels and banana bread were worth it alone!! Oh, and their bakery is well worth a visit, super-yummy!

Great hosts--Jon, Toni, Luna, and all the cats and dogs and chickens. Fun getting to know them, and we were sad to leave. Also, great location--high enough to be cool, close to Kona and Capt. Cook, isolated enough to feel like you're in the country. Outstanding views and vegetation, and hawks and pheasants and other bird life. Comfortable bed, tasty banana bread and bagels. This may be the ideal place for folks who want to escape the hotels and traffic of the Big Island and get to know a bit of rural Hawai'i. Waking up to hear roosters crowing and smell coffee roasting--the occasional thunderstorm and spouting whales in the distance--magnificent sunsets directly off the lanai. We will be back. Well, we are back in our home in Hood River. We both loved our home with Antoinette, Luna, and Jon. Waking every morning to the sounds of Hawaii was an experience we will never forget. The view was wonderful and was like a photo fit for a postcard. The Master Bedroom was very comfortable and was like staying in a tree house! So much more inviting, to us, than staying in a crowded condo on the main drag. We both feel so lucky to have found our room in the trees. The location was convenient. Plenty of parking. (We rented motorcycles for a couple of days.) Jon was very helpful with recommendations on where to eat, snorkel, etc. You couldn't ask for better. I enjoyed all the kitties and the beautiful dogs, all part of a warm and welcoming family. If you want privacy, you've got it. But, if you want to pleasure of the this family's company...you have it too. What a wonderful unique experience. Lovely memories that will last a lifetime!! Mahalo. Shirley~Hood River, Oregon
This is a very beautiful spot with beautiful people. Very family friendly.Everyone there made us feel very welcomed and made sure we were happy. Wonderful view of horizon and ocean. Not far from Kona center but felt like away from everything. Great peaceful sleep with great dreams when we stayed at Antoinettes. Annick~Australia
Are you looking to discover the Aloha spirit? If so, you are flowing in the right direction. If you decide to book here you will get more than just accommodations. You will be able to meet a beautiful family (happy animals included), be lullabied by the gentle song of coqui frogs at night and awakened by the tweets of tropical birds in the morning. Oh, I forgot to mention you can head just 10 minutes down the road to their AMAZING bakery. A vegan and gluten-free lovers paradise! I really got more than I expected by staying here and feel I have made some good friends with John, Antoinette and their daughter, Luna. They are a very kind and sincere family wanting everyone to enjoy themselves and be happy while staying at their home. They have gone over and above to help me in my travels and have blessed me with their company. I will definitely be coming back many, many more times in the years to come. ~Living the Aloha Dream~Paul~California
